Real-World Assets Are Moving into Digital Form

By 2030, tokenized assets under management could reach $715 billion. More than 40% of PwC survey respondents also believe that tokenization will become their most important product innovation in the future.

In 2026, the tokenization of real-world assets (Real-World Assets, RWA) became one of the key topics in the global investment industry. Major consulting firms, including PwC, identify this area as a key direction for the development of asset management in the coming years.

What Is Real-World Asset Tokenization?

In simple terms, it is the conversion of rights to real-world assets — such as real estate and private equity — into digital form. This makes such assets more accessible for management, transfer, and record-keeping.

What Is the Scale of This Trend?

According to PwC estimates, tokenized funds are expected to grow by 41% annually, reaching $715 billion by 2030. At the same time, operating costs could decrease by 30–50% across the entire asset lifecycle.

More than 50 countries are already testing distributed ledger-based infrastructure, accelerating regulatory and institutional adoption.

An Important Clarification

The IP Shares used in the Atlas project are not tokens. They are shares in intellectual property, with the corresponding rights formally documented in an official register. However, the broader trend toward the digitalization of asset rights demonstrates that the industry is moving toward more transparent and technology-driven forms of asset record-keeping and management.

Atlas uses the IP Shares model — documented shares in intellectual property. This is consistent with the industry’s broader shift toward more transparent forms of rights record-keeping.
